The Blues defender Raphaël Varane switched with Karim Benzema and confirmed in a press conference that the Real Madrid striker and the French team will be selected for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Morocco on Wednesday (8pm).
Karim Benzema, package for the World Cup, published a post on Sunday, following the French team’s qualification for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, in which he made sure he was behind the Blues, looking for a double in Qatar. “Of course I have contact with him, he supports the Blues,” confirmed Raphael Varane, who was his teammate at Real Madrid. “Come on guys, 2 games left, we’re almost there… behind you,” Benzema wrote on Twitter and Instagram the day before, as he returned to training with the Spanish club this weekend.

Medalist in the event of the Blues’ coronation
Hit in the thigh during training while just recovering from another injury, the Golden Ball had not spoken publicly about the Blues’ course in Qatar since his departure just days before the Blues’ first game, unlike other important absentees. Benzema spent a few days off in Réunion before heading to Valdebebas.
French top scorer in history since March 2022, with more than 400 professional goals, ahead of Thierry Henry, Karim Benzema hoped to shine at the World Cup to crown an exceptional season. Absent from the debates, however, he could be awarded a medal by FIFA in the event of the Blues’ coronation next Sunday, his name still appearing on the Blues’ official list for the World Cup. On the other hand, it would be up to the French Football Federation whether or not to consider him a world champion.
